Getting Rid of Fruit Flies Naturally

It's happened to the best of us, we've left some fruit out while away for a few days and when we get back we have new squatters living in our house. Fruit Flies. They are almost impossible to get rid off because of their size and speed. Here's a sure fire way to get rid of them without harsh chemicals and of course naturally!

Just pour half a cup of apple cider vinegar into a glass or cup. Leave it somewhere out of the way, like a window ledge or off to the side. Sit and wait.

Who says you can't get flies with Vinegar?

We do this and it does help. My daughter uses a Greek yogurt container - just an individual size and fills it with vinegar. You will see the fruit flies going to it and it does get some. A big help that's easy to do.

I do this and it really does work. I have a plant that is a magnet for these suckers. I put a little bowl in the plant and bam, they're gone.

I wish I'd known this when I had a fruit fly problem in my house! I'll have to keep it in mind in case that happens again.

Wow yet another purpose for vinegar. I love it - every house should have vinegar - cleaning - your house and your body - fruit flies all kinds of uses for vinegar. This particular one I had no idea of!

I love finding easy natural ways to cure problems like this. I get nervous using chemicals around my kiddos so this is great.

Never leave your fruit out for a long time you will find visitors invading your kitchen.

I tried this, but we must have had the super breed because they would hang out on the rim of the glass but not go in and drown. I also tried the method with some kind of funnel (because they're supposed to be attracted to the vinegar, go through the funnel, and then not be smart enough to find their way back out through the opening). Again, they walked around the surface of the funnel, and never went back in. My husband was convinced they were just breeding on it ;) I ended up just putting all the fruit in the fridge and within a few days they disappeared! I don't really like my apples to be that cold, but I dislike the fruit flies everywhere even more! ;)

I had a Fruit Fly infestation last year, it was so bad I was catching them with my hands and throwing them into soapy hot water. I searched Pinterest, and I found something similar, but i think it said add a few drops of Dawn soap, and it worked perfect. :)
