Back To School Blast $1000 Visa Gift Card Giveaway Ends 8/15

Welcome to the Back to School Blast!

Getting your family prepared to head back to school, can be difficult especially after a long, fun-filled summer. Here are a few of our favorite Back to School Tips to help you along the way.
1. Back-to-School Supplies Checklist - Backpack? Check. Pencils? Check. Safety scissors? Not Yet. Use the same checklist each time you head out to grab supplies, to keep track of what you have already purchased and the things you still need to. These are also handy if you have more than one child. Simply print 2, 3, 4 list and add their name to the top.
2. Make sure and Label Everything you get for your kids- With everyone getting all the same items you don't want things to get lost.
3.Check out the circulars, many places price match! So you don't have to run all over town make sure and see where the best specials are and make sure and keep the circulars so you can take advantage of price match.
4.Buy extra supplies. They will go quickly and instead of buying overpriced supplies midway through the year make sure and have a few extras available for later on.

The week before school starts, get the kids used to getting up/eating breakfast/getting dressed on time, and the same goes for bedtime!

I don't have a child in school yet (too little), but thinking back to when my mom was getting me ready to head back to school, she always made sure we got to bed at an early time and ate a good breakfast to start the day off right. We also made our lunches the night before.

Looking back on my school days-- a great word of advice to students: Tour a new school building first! That way you know where each class is and can map out the best routes on large campuses so you won't be late on your first day.

Get the school supply sales for next year and keep them stored, one less stressful thing to buy.

Always have your child's outfit picked out the night before.

DD is still too young for school, but now is a great time to stock up on pens, paper, crayons and other school related stuff because they are almost always on sale!

My daughter starts this year. We are starting a bedtime routine in a week or two to insure she's getting a good night's sleep.

Make a special "welcome back" package for your children. You can put things in there that they can use all throughout the year (but do not necessarily need) and wrap them up all pretty. It will get them very excited!

My best back to school tip is to buy extra supplies in the beginning and store them. Everything is much cheaper when the back to school sales are running.

My best tip is to start winding back bedtime at least a few weeks before school starts so they don't spend hours trying to get to sleep.

Rise 30 minutes early on the first day of school...it takes time to get back into routine and something inevitably goes awry.

Our oldest starts school this year, so it's our first year doing school shopping!! I'm excited!

If your child is just starting preschool or kindergarten and they have a rest time, start having your child to lay quietly for a period of time each day. It's even better if you can learn when the teacher has this scheduled. Also it helps both them and the teacher if they are already used to getting up at the time they'll be waking when school starts.

Try to have the school pre-purchase the school supplies in bulk as a kit. Our PTA does this and it saves to much time and headache! We just buy the kit at the end of the year for the next year and bam! It's done!

Start shopping as soon as the sales start popping up!

I have four kids so my best tip is to start shopping early so that you don't have to buy everything at once or the last minute.

If you aren't on the school days schedule all summer, make sure you start it at least a week before school starts so that you aren't all exhausted the first few days of school. Also, if possible, buy extra supplies than what the school tells you to because part way through the year they will need more and it wont be on sale then.

Order instagram photo stickers of family fun times, and use them to decorate lunch sacks and bookcovers for a little fun reminder from home!

Be prepared to ease school starting anxiety

Best back to school tip is start school shopping at the beginning of summer. No need to rush out in all the madness the week before!!

Stay in your routine as much as possible

Renee Smith said...

My tip would be to keep the kids on a schedule during the summer so going back to school is an easy transition. Changing bed time and waking schedules during the summer will make it more difficult when they need to go back to school in the Fall.

Katie said...

Don't stress out about perfection. Things will all fall into place.

Laurie said...

My boys are still little so I don't have one yet!

Michele Zook said...

My tip? I guess it would be to continue working with your children during the summer. Kids can regress academically during such a long break.

Jayne said...

My back to school tip is to practice waking up earlier starting 1-2 weeks before just so it wouldn't be as hard to start on the first day of school.
